Filmmaker's Vision
Written and Directed by Hassan Mageye, an award-winning Ugandan filmmaker, The Silence We Flee is a high-stakes political thriller taking the viewer from Africa to California, following the story of Naomi, a young woman thrust into challenging systemic corruption as her father's last request. Naomi's story reminds each of us that while we may not be strong enough to thwart oppression alone, with courage and motivation, we can find the allies we need to defend justice, and our efforts make a difference.
Released in Uganda in 2025, the last film Mageye wrote and directed, Kimote, won 7 awards for Best Actor, Best Feature Film, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, and Best Indigenous Film at the Uganda Film Festival.
Kimote was chosen by the Uganda Academy Selection Committee to submit to the the 2026 Academy Awards in the category of Best International Feature Film.
Mageye Global Works seeks strategic partners who share our commitment to social justice and the power of cinematic narrative. Your investment will support the production of a feature film that reveals truths, underscores the current threats to justice and human rights, and asks for accountability.
Interested in joining our efforts to bring The Silence We Flee to audiences as a powerful tool for social change? We welcome your participation!
